About Mack

Hi. I’m Mack. You can also call me Big Mack, Mack-a-doodle, Mack Truck, or any nickname that sounds like I could have my own burger at a diner. I’m a big boy—about 85 pounds of muscle, fluff, and polite vibes—and I’m here to let you know I’m ready to settle down… with you.

Let’s get the obvious question out of the way: yes, I’m blind in my left eye, but no, I’m not auditioning for a pirate movie (though I would look great in a bandana). Honestly, it doesn’t slow me down at all. I still spot squirrels, rabbits, and chicken bones on the sidewalk faster than you can say “leave it.” I may act like a hound when I’m outside, sniffing and tracking with determination, but inside? I’m the definition of chill. I’ll gladly sprawl out on cool tile floors or the sofa and snooze until my next walk.

Speaking of walks—I love them. I’m up at 6 a.m. like clockwork, ready to go. We’re talking about three walks a day (yes, three), totaling 3.5–4 hours. If you’re into hiking, river adventures, or just meandering through the park while we dodge discarded barbecue leftovers, we’re going to get along great.

I’ve come a long way in just a couple months. I’m now a social butterfly with other dogs—polite with the littles and up for some friendly wrestling with dogs my size. I even met a cat being carried past me and didn’t bat an eye. Rabbits are another story, but I mean, who doesn’t get a little excited around rabbits?

People? Love ’em. I’m good with everyone—men, women, teens. I’m mostly fine with kids too, especially calm, respectful ones. But I’ll be honest: screaming children are not my jam. I’d prefer a home with older kids or a quieter environment where we can all keep our cool.

I don’t chew your shoes, your furniture, or your garbage, and I don’t bark just to hear myself. I might whine a little if you leave me home alone, but I’m not destructive—I just wait by the door like a noble gentleman. I’m still working on not scavenging on walks (those chicken bones are so tempting!), and my foster is helping me with that. I promise to keep learning.

My ideal home? Somewhere with space to roam—maybe a big yard, an acreage, or a farm—and people who love being outdoors as much as I do. I’d thrive with someone semi-active who’s around most of the time. Another dog would be fine too, but I’d be just as happy being your one-and-only.

So if you’re looking for a calm, goofy, low-maintenance (aside from my walk addiction) best friend with soulful eyes and a heart of gold, I’m your guy.

Let’s take the long way home—together.

Love,
Mack
