About Bruce
Hi there, I’m Bruce—also known as Brucey, Handsome Bruce, or sometimes just “The Best Boy” (their words, not mine… okay, maybe mine too).
If you’re looking for a chill, handsome dude to keep you company in the yard, on leisurely walks, or while you sip your morning coffee, I think we should talk. I’m a mellow kind of guy who enjoys the simple things in life: a nice patch of grass, a gentle head scratch, and the occasional sniff-filled stroll around the neighborhood. I’m not needy, but I do have my moments where I’ll nuzzle my big head into you just to say, “Hey, you’re my person.”
I’ve met a few people in my time and honestly? I think humans are awesome. Big ones, small ones—bring ’em on. I even met a tiny human (my foster’s 3.5-year-old nephew), and I was a total gentleman. I’m not overly clingy though—I value my solo nap time and a little independence.
I get along with dogs, especially the kind that understand I’m more of a “play for 5 minutes and then go back to chillin’” type. I might need a slow intro with new pups, but I’m polite once we get past the formalities. As for small critters—squirrels and bunnies really get my inner hunter going, so let’s maybe skip those roommates.
I’ve got some solid house manners. I’m housetrained, not destructive, and I rarely bark (unless I’m getting a bit too hyped during a short play session). I don’t really love the crate, but I’ll nap in there with the door open. And if you leave me loose in the house while you’re out? No problem—I’ll just catch up on my sleep.
Now, full disclosure—I’m still figuring out a few things. Stairs inside are a bit of a mystery (I’ve only braved the upstairs once), and I’m working on car confidence. I also don’t have name recall yet, so don’t take it personally if I don’t come running. I’m a work in progress, but I’m smart and learning fast—like how to sit and wait before going through gates or doors. You should see the proud look I give when I do it without being asked!
I think my dream home would be a calm place with a backyard, a comfy bed (okay, I admit beds are growing on me), and humans who are home a lot or like taking slow walks. Another easy-going dog sibling would be cool, or I’d be fine solo too. As long as there’s love, snacks, and patience, I’ll be your loyal best friend.
If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a sweet, low-key companion with a big heart and a little soul patch of goofiness, I’d love to meet you.
See you soon?
Love,
Bruce
