About Flora
Hi… my name is Flora, and I’m writing this from the safety of my cozy bed, because, well… I’m not quite ready to shout from the rooftops just yet. I’m a soft and shy little soul who’s still figuring out how to be brave in a big, loud world.
When I first arrived, everything felt scary. People, noises, being touched, even just being looked at made me want to disappear. I trembled, I hid, and if someone reached for me too fast, I would sometimes pee out of fear. But here’s the beautiful part: I’ve already come so far.
With my foster mom and her gentle dog, I’m learning that not all change is scary. I’ve started to play with toys, offer kisses, and even do a happy little dance when food is coming. I’ve also discovered I love snuggling—on my terms. If you’re kind and patient and give me space, I’ll choose to come curl up beside you, because my heart is bigger than my fear.
I’m still getting the hang of things like house training, leashes, and trusting new people. Walks? Not quite yet—but playing in the backyard is a big win! I’ve even started showing signs that one day, I might be the kind of dog who zooms and wiggles with joy. I’m not there yet, but I feel it waking up inside me.
Here’s what I do need in my forever home:
- A quiet, calm environment with no young kids (they move too fast and loud for me right now).
- Humans who let me set the pace. I’m not broken, just tender.
- A friendly, confident dog sibling who can show me the ropes and remind me that good things come with tail wags.
- A fenced yard for gentle potty breaks and eventually, some playful romps.
- Lots of love, patience, snacks, and understanding.
I may not be the dog who bounds into your arms on Day One. But I will be the dog who learns to trust, to try, and eventually, to thrive—with you.
