About Johnny
Hi, I’m Johnny — a shy little soul with a huge heart, looking for a home that will help me heal, grow, and finally feel safe.
When I first arrived, I was completely shut down. The world felt scary, loud, and unfamiliar, and I didn’t know who I could trust. But day by day, I’m slowly beginning to blossom. I’m learning that gentle hands are kind, that patient humans are safe, and that love can be soft and quiet.
I’m still timid and will back away from fast movements, but I now allow pets and sometimes even relax into them. My foster mom says I have the sweetest, most hopeful smile — and it’s starting to come out more often.
One thing that makes me feel truly secure is other dogs. I adore them. Big dogs, small dogs — they’re my safe zone. I follow their lead, I feel brave when they’re near, and I love having canine friends to show me how to be part of a family again. A confident dog in my forever home would help me continue to learn and feel grounded.
I’m also a quiet and gentle housemate. I’m not a chewer, I’m not a barker (other than a soft little whine when I feel lonely), and I’m incredibly respectful. I currently use pee pads perfectly and always whine before I go — my foster mom believes I’m housetrained and will gladly transition outside once I feel brave enough to explore beyond her basement.
Because I came into care overweight, I’m on a gentle weight-loss journey — about 14 pounds to go. As I grow more confident and start going outside, my energy will naturally rise. For now, I’m low-energy, calm, and happy to observe the world from a safe spot.
I could absolutely live in an apartment or attached housing — I’m quiet, polite, and not reactive. I’m still nervous about new environments, loud noises, and fast-moving things, but with time and encouragement, I’ll learn the world isn’t as scary as I thought.
My dream home?
A calm, patient family who understands that I’m on a journey, not a timeline. A home with at least one friendly, confident dog would be incredibly helpful for me. Kids who are gentle and respectful could be wonderful too. I just need people with big hearts, steady hands, and a willingness to celebrate the small steps — because for me, every step forward is a victory.
My foster mom says that underneath my fear is a tender, loving girl who wants to connect. And she’s right — my personality is starting to peek through. I’ve even given a few shy little kisses to the people I trust most.
With time, love, and reassurance, I’m going to become a loyal, happy, playful companion. Whoever adopts me will be getting something truly special — the chance to help a frightened girl discover joy again.
Love,
Johnny
