About Rodney
Dear Future Forever Person,
Hi there. I’m Rodney—also known as Rodders, Mr. Wiggles, or Your New Shadow—and I’ve been working really hard at becoming a confident, happy house dog. I’m still a little shy when it comes to new places, loud noises, or unexpected guests (umbrellas, I’m watching you), but give me a minute and I’ll be right behind you like a furry little sidekick.
I may be petite in size, but I’ve got a big heart and an even bigger personality once I feel safe. I love cuddles, snacks (did someone say chicken?), and shadowing you around the house to make sure you’re doing everything correctly. I’m also an excellent napper and have been told I look very cute while snoozing.
The outside world? It’s a bit much sometimes. I’m more of a backyard explorer right now, but I’m getting braver every day. I’m learning how to walk on a leash (baby steps, okay?) and getting used to cars and stairs and, yes, even that noisy vacuum monster.
I’m crate trained, mostly house trained (I’m working on my “I need to go out” signal!), and very food motivated, which makes me a fast learner. I’m already practicing recall with a whistle and something called “touch,” and I take my treat-based education very seriously.
I’ve met one very small human so far, and while I wasn’t quite ready to play tea party, I watched from a safe distance like a polite gentleman. I think I’d do well with kids 6+, especially if they’re gentle and patient. I haven’t officially met any other animals yet, but I don’t react to dogs on walks and would probably be fine with slow introductions.
My ideal home is calm, loving, and has a yard I can safely explore. I’d really love to be with people who are home most of the time—or at least someone I can curl up beside during the day. I’m not destructive when left alone, but I definitely prefer knowing where you are. I’d also appreciate someone who will cheer me on as I continue getting braver out in the big world.
If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, slightly timid sidekick who wants nothing more than to love and be loved (and also maybe steal your blanket), I might just be your guy.
With wags and wiggles,
Rodney
