I would rather cry watching them leave our home to live a life of happiness and joy in a loving home, than cry because no one stepped up to help them and they died alone, frightened and sad in the shelter.
I feel grateful and honoured to be picked as foster of the month!
I chose Pawsitive Match, because a family friend volunteered and adopted their dog through the Foundation, and spoke so highly of them, and the thorough adoption process. So far we have fostered 20 cats/kittens, and 1 dog.
I had been wanting to foster for a while, and kept seeing posts from various rescues in continuous search for fosters.
After a year or two of convincing, I was able to get my partner to agree to fostering. It’s not that he didn’t want to foster, he just knew it would be hard to say goodbye to them when they found their fur-ever homes.
It is hard, and it’s why we now have six resident cats. But it is also rewarding, knowing that you played a small yet important role in their lives.
Sometimes you are even lucky enough to be the first human an animal has ever trusted.
Like our current foster Violet, she went from hiding in the closet for weeks on end, and flinching when we came near her, to being a sweet little kitty who loves to be pet and rub up against everyone and everything! She still only lets us pick her up for one or two seconds at a time, but she has come such a long way from that scared little kitty in the closet. It makes it all worthwhile.
A big thank you to Pawsitive Match for making this all possible. I look forward to helping even more furbabies find their purr-fect families!
If you are here, we know you are considering opening your home to foster animals! Pawsitive Match is always on the lookout for families ready to welcome in a foster cat or dog. Fostering is a very rewarding and educational experience, and a great way to get some hands-on experience with pet ownership. By placing our animals in homes when they arrive, they are able to become accustomed to family life while we find them the purrfect home. Not only that, when you open your home to a foster animal, it frees up space for other animals who are potentially in life threatening situations to come into our care, so you are literally saving a life!
