About Barley
Hi, I’m Barley! I’m a little dog with a big personality, a love for toys, and a lot of feelings. I might take a little time to warm up, but once I do, I’m your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your personal entertainment system (seriously, you should see me toss my toys in the air like a pro).
Now, let’s be upfront—I’m still figuring out this whole “confidence” thing. The world is a big, sometimes scary place, and I need a human who understands that I’ll need time, patience, and plenty of reassurance. I love playing in the house and in the yard, but walks? Not so much. If you’re hoping for a hiking buddy, I might need some convincing. But if you want a dog who is happiest playing with toys, zooming around, and then curling up for a nap? That’s me!
I do well with bigger dogs who can match my energy, but smaller dogs might find me a little… intense. I’ll admit, I can be a bit of a pest when I get excited, and I don’t always read other dogs’ social cues well. I’d also prefer a home without cats—I find them a little too interesting.
I’m crate-trained, house-trained, and working on my manners. I can get overstimulated during play and might growl or mouth, but I respond well to redirection and structure. I also have a bit of a dramatic side—if I get spooked or overwhelmed, I might need to be picked up to help me calm down. (I know, I know, I sound like a little prince. I mightbe.)
My ideal home? Someone who understands that I need time to build confidence, preferably with a larger dog to show me the ropes. No young kids, no cats, and a patient person who can help me learn that the world isn’t so scary. If you have experience with nervous but feisty dogs, we might be a perfect match!
So, if you’re looking for a quirky, toy-loving, cuddle-ready pup who just needs a little extra patience and love, I could be your guy. Let’s meet and see if we’re meant to be!
Nervously but excitedly,
Barley
