About Bessie

Hi there! My name is Bessie, and I’m on a mission to find my forever home. I’m a four-month-old bundle of energy, curiosity, and (let’s be honest) a little bit of mischief. I may be small, but my personality? HUGE.

Let’s start with the important stuff: I have mastered my house-training, I sleep in my crate like an angel, and love to learn new things.  I’m also an A+ student in food motivation. Seriously, if you have treats, I’ll do just about anything. I’m currently learning to master my loose lease walking like a real pro.  I am building my confidence daily.  My foster mom says that I am excelling at my puppy manners. I will sit and wait for my meals and I will wait at the door until I am invited come. I am  learning “turn around”, “leave it” / “take it”. I am have met other dogs and I did so well!

I love people! Well… my people. Strangers? I need a bit of time, but if you toss me a treat and let me check you out on my terms, we’ll be best friends in no time. I’m not a barker, but I do like to let my voice be heard if necessary (or if the treats are taking too long).

Now, let’s talk about my bestie, Chubby. She’s my foster sister, a nine-year-old terrier mix from Mexico, and I adore her. We play, wrestle, and I sometimes nibble on her beard (it’s very chewable). She tells me when I get too excited, and I listen. I haven’t met many other dogs yet because I’m still waiting for my vaccinations, but I have good doggy manners and am excited to meet new friends!

Most importantly – lets talk cuddles, I LOVE them. I may be energetic, but I’m also a snuggle bug. If you’re sitting down, there’s a high chance I’ll be right there with you (possibly chewing a toy while we cuddle—multitasking is key).

I’m looking for a family who will continue helping me build my confidence, teach me the ways of the world, and provide lots of love, playtime, and, of course, snacks. I’d love a dog sibling, but it’s not a must—I just need humans who understand that I’m still learning and will be patient as I grow into my best self.
