About Dex

Hi. I’m Dex, and this is my open letter to the very specific, unicorn-type human(s) I’m waiting for.

Let’s start with the basics: I’m young, cute, snuggly, and incredibly expressive. I’ve got a solid love for toys, treats, and curling up like a cozy burrito.

Here’s the thing: the world is still a little bit… a lot but with you by my side, I’m totally safe! New people looming over me? I’m working on it, but it takes me a minute to warm up but when you tell me they are cool, so am I! And kids under 10? I’ll be honest—too unpredictable. I’m not a fan. Give me calm, older humans who understand boundaries and consent, and we’re golden.

Now let’s talk dogs. Other dogs and I have what you might call “creative differences.” I haven’t really had a good interaction with one yet except my foster siblings, and I’m pretty vocal about my feelings. It’s not an immediate “no,” but if you’ve got another dog, you’ll need to be extra experienced and willing to work through several meetups, because I’m not into rushing relationships. Basically, if you’ve got a canine therapist friend, now’s their time to shine.

Leash walks? I love them! I love them a little too much and want to sniff everythinngggg. My foster’s been helping me work on it with positive reinforcement and distractions, but this is still a“project” in my life. Backyard zoomies and sunshine? Way more my vibe right now.

I’m also really good at private off leash parks. I probably run faster than flash and enjoy playing fetch. I even bring the ball back. You’re welcome.

On the plus side: I’m crate trained, house trained, very food motivated, and I haven’t destroyed any furniture! I’m a heavy-duty toy chewer (RIP to the plushies), but haven’t touched anything I shouldn’t. I’m also a champion cuddler. Seriously—my snuggle game is elite. I’ve even started to let my foster rub my belly (HUGE deal, people!).

My ideal home? Quiet but active, dog-savvy, with a secure yard and no small humans. I’d love someone home most of the time (especially at first) who will keep helping me work through my quirks, who respects that trust takes time, and who thinks building a bond with a scruffy little underdog is one of life’s great joys.

If you’re patient, kind, and up for the challenge of helping a nervous-but-loving pup find his groove, I promise I’ll give you my whole heart (and probably my favorite toy too).

Cautiously yours (but with growing confidence),
Dex
