About Huckleberry

Hi, I’m Huckleberry – though my friends call me Hucks. I’m a sweet, gentle soul who might be a little shy at first, but once I feel safe, I’ll be your cuddly shadow and happiest companion. I love to snuggle, soak up pets, and just be near my people.

I’m house-trained, good on leash, and I know my basic commands like sit and lay down. I’m also very quiet – no barking here – which makes me easy to have around. I can get a little whiny when left alone, but I settle quickly and spend my time calmly waiting for you.

Food is my biggest weakness. I absolutely love it, maybe a little too much! I’ll beg and sometimes try to sneak things off the counter if I can reach, so I’ll need a family that’s patient and willing to keep working with me on my manners.

I’m curious about other dogs, but we’re still figuring out how I do with them up close. Birds, squirrels, and critters definitely catch my eye on walks – they’re just so tempting to chase! I also get a bit nervous with loud noises, stairs, or steep hills, but with encouragement, I’m learning to face those challenges.

My dream home? Somewhere calm and loving, with adults or older kids, and maybe a yard where I can run and stretch my legs. I’d be happiest with active people who will give me both exercise and cuddle time.

I may have a few quirks – like my food obsession and a shy streak – but I promise I’ll bring so much love, warmth, and joy to the family who gives me a chance. Once I trust you, you’ll have my whole heart.
