About Pirate

Ahoy there! Pirate may have a name fit for the seven seas, but he’s got both paws firmly on land and his heart set on a cozy, committed forever home. This bright-eyed, underbite-rockin’ sweetheart is packed with personality and potential. In just a few short weeks, Pirate has gone from unsure rookie to playful companion who’s starting to master the art of “being a dog” — and he’s ready to keep sailing forward with the right crew by his side.

Pirate is housetrained (with a watchful eye), crate trained, and knows his name and basic commands like “sit.” He can be vocal when left alone — especially if his husky housemates start up a chorus — but he settles well with a stuffed Kong, his slow-feeder dish, and a nylabone or two. He’s food-motivated and a fast learner, making training a fun and rewarding experience for both of you.

He gets along best with calm, larger dogs when introduced slowly and kindly. He’s still learning that new dogs are safe, and his confidence is building with each good interaction. He’s been a rockstar at adoption events once he’s had a moment to warm up. As for people? Pirate loves his humans. He enjoys pets, cuddles (on his terms), and hanging out nearby. He hasn’t lived with children, but we suspect older kids or a dog-savvy family would be best — mostly because Pirate will happily steal their stuffed animals.

He’s got a few funny quirks: he barks when coyotes sing, grumbles when people pass the yard, and has a fondness for chewing things like cords and cardboard if they’re not put away. With consistent redirection and plenty of toys, he’s easy to manage. Pirate’s not a fan of water but absolutely tolerates all the human fuss — including baths, ear touches, nail trims, and being picked up when needed.

His ideal home? One that’s invested in his continued growth. He doesn’t need a perfect setup — just people willing to help him keep building confidence, social skills, and structure. Another well-mannered dog could help show him the ropes, or he’d be just fine solo with someone ready to focus on him. He’d thrive with a yard to patrol, some daily walks, and lots of quality time.

If you’re looking for a goofy, smart, eager-to-learn little adventurer who will be endlessly entertaining and deeply loyal, Pirate is ready to come aboard.

Pirate was born approximately May 2024 and is a small dog.

His adoption fee is $475.
