Meet Salem (Sally) – The Tiny Lap-Loving Deer-Dog!
Hi everyone, I’m Sally, though some people call me Salem. I’m a pint-sized pup with the body of a dachshund, the spring-loaded legs of a deer, and the personality of your future best friend. My specialty? Leaping straight into laps like it’s an Olympic sport!
I’m a social butterfly who absolutely adores people—kids, teens, adults, strangers—I’m excited to meet them all. I can get a little too enthusiastic at first (my foster family says I’m still learning not to jump up), but hey, I’m small, gentle, and full of love, so no harm done. I also get along nicely with other dogs and could happily join a home with small or gentle medium-sized pups, though I’d also thrive as your one and only.
When it comes to training, I’m making steady progress. Housetraining is still a work in progress, but I’ve improved a lot with consistency and my crate. I’m clever and food-motivated, so with patience, I’ll get there. I don’t bark much, but when left alone I might whine for a few minutes before settling down.
I’ve got a playful side too—I love walks, zooming around, and investigating squeaky toys (though I’m still figuring out exactly what to do with them). With my little legs and big enthusiasm, I get plenty of exercise on short walks and indoor playtime.
At night, you’ll find me curled up in bed with my people, and during the day, I’ll happily shadow you from room to room. Baths aren’t my favorite, but cuddles, pets, and ear scratches? Always yes!
My ideal home is one where I’m treated like family, whether that’s with kids, other small dogs, or just my humans. I’d do well in an apartment or house, as long as I can stay close to my people—because honestly, being with you is my favorite thing in the whole world.
